Rapidshare Uploader

Rapidshare is providing its users with a software tool to make uploading multiple large files easier. The software is currently available for Microsoft Windows operating systems and supports both free and premium accounts.

It features a queue like uploader that can be filled by dragging and dropping files into it or by using the build in file browser to pick files that should be hosted at Rapidshare from the local computer.

One interesting feature is the auto packer. The auto packer will automatically pack files that are larger than 100 Megabytes into 100 Megabyte chunks and create one file for every 100 Megabytes. This makes it possible to upload larger files relatively painlessly to Rapidshare.

Files in the queue can be saved to the computer to continue uploading them at a later time. The Rapidshare Uploader features lots of other settings that make uploading files to Rapidshare easier and more secure.

Rapidshare Search Engines

Rapidshare is such a big file hoster that users created multiple websites that offer searches for files hosted on Rapidshare. Rapidshare itself is not providing a search engine of their own which means that users who want to find files at Rapidshare have to use an independent search engine to do so.

The easiest solution would be to perform a Google search with the advanced site: parameter which performs a search only on a specified website. A search for site:rapidshare.com mp3 would for instance reveal all mp3 links in Google's index.

The benefit of searching Rapidshare for files this way is that one only has to rely on Google to find files at Rapidshare.

The disadvantage of this solution is the fact that Google does not constantly update the pages that are in the index which means that users will run into many links that are not working anymore, either because the user decided to delete the link, because of expiration of the link or removal by Rapidshare.

Rapidshare

Rapidshare is one of the most popular file hosting services on the Internet. Users can store files on Rapidshare without having to create an account on the website which makes the service attractive for anyone who wants to upload files quickly without having to think about registration or handing over his email address.

Rapidshare provides two different types of accounts: a premium account and a guest account. Premium accounts pay money to receive privileges for the subscription period. This includes faster download speeds and no wait time among other benefits.

Free users have to endure slower download speeds and waiting periods before they can download a file from Rapidshare. This does not exceed 30-60 seconds usually but it is bothering even the most seasoned user when downloading several files a day.
